A pharmaceutical company Biovail Corp. is geared up to launch a sexual dysfunction medication BVF-324 in the market. The company expects to do well even though the medicine may not be more effective than the Pfizer manufactured anti-impotence drug Viagra. The new drug BVF-324, that Biovail Corp is going to release in the pharmaceutical market is a drug similar to the anti-impotency medication Viagra in the sense that it rescues patients from a specific type of prevalent sexual dysfunction.
BVF-324 has shown interest in the development of erectile dysfunction drugs in order to compensate for the decrease in earnings resulting from the market availability of generics of Wellbutrin XL, an antidepressant owned by the company. Revelations by the company make it clear that the company's revenues whittled down from $255-million to $203 million that was a 20 percent decrease from the company's earnings in the second quarter of last year.
However, Biovail Corp has initiated an agreement with a private drug company to win over the global rights of BVF-324, the drug that has emerged to be a new treatment for a specific type of sexual dysfunction. Doug Squires, the CEO of the company refuses to reveal what kind of sexual dysfunction BVF-324 is likely to cure but makes it apparent that significant details would be revealed once the company goes ahead and initiates talks with FDA relating to the development of the medicine.
