According to David Rowland, a sexual disorder researcher and psychologist at Valparaiso University, the increasing reliance on ED drugs would have negative impacts on Viagra users as treatment of erectile dysfunction with Viagra and other similar anti-impotency medications donot provide wholesome cure for the disorder. An article written by David Rowland appeared in the Journal of Sex and Marital Therapy that emphasized on the negative impact that can unleash due to excessive usage of Viagra and other medicines without caring for the psychological and behavioral factors responsible for erectile dysfunction.
However David Rowland states that prescription medications such as Viagra can treat erectile dysfunction but cannot provide cure and as such success from the treatment of erectile dysfunction is feasible only when Viagra and similar other anti-impotency drugs are utilized along with psychotherapy. Moreover the psychologist adds that with anti-impotency drugs reaping success in some cases, sufficient amount of research work is not conducted to evaluate the role played by psychological factors in triggering off erectile dysfunction in men.
