Mrs Gillicker, a nurse by profession, recently appeared in front of a professional conduct committee of the Nursing and Midwifery Council where she was charged for prescribing Viagra and several other medicines illegally to her husband. With that, it now appears that she might lose her job for the serious drug offence she committed and some form of preventive action is also likely to be taken against her with regard to the manner of her functioning in the workplace.
Mrs Gillicker is reported to commit the offence with in three and a half year period when she was employed as a nurse with the Causeway Medical Centre in Warrington.
In the recent hearing, it soon became obvious to the panel of judges that after enrolling her husband as a temporary patient on October 17, 2003 at her medical center's computer system, she prescribed him a whole lot of medicines illegally including the anti-impotency drug Viagra. According to sources, the nurse started administering her husband with the erectile dysfunction medication Viagra on April 28, 2006 even though he was not permitted to take Viagra due to other medicines that he was already taking.
As soon as the hearing drew to an end, Leila Harris, a Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) spokesman stated that the charges leveled against the nurse have been proven and the case is scheduled to be renewed on 25 th April.
