In the China Medical University located in Taichung City of the country, infants lying at the deathbed due to pulmonary arterial hypertension were recently saved when they were treated with viagra, the erectile dysfunction drug.
According to Lin Hong-chin, a physician incharge of the hospital's Pediatric division, the babies were suffering from congenital heart damage in the heart and the left lung robe since their birth. The respiratory distress of the babies was noticed and they were sent to the pediatric intensive care unit to undergo nitric oxide treatment so that muscles in the respiratory vessels could be relaxed.
Lin Hong-chin then cancelled the decision to treat the babies with nitric oxide as the cost of nitric oxide treatment was as high as NT$6,000 on a daily basis. But when he remembered a report about doctors in Denver Children's Hospital in Colorado using Viagra and saving babies from pulmonary hypertension, he decided to switch to Viagra.
