According to a latest revelation, Maxigra, the generic equivalent of viagra that has sildenafil as active ingredient has become available for sale in Poland with effect from 28 th March and this news has been confirmed by Krzysztof Jakubiak, the PR director at Polpharma, the Maxigra manufacturing company. The registration of Maxigra was formalized before the entry of Poland at the EU domain when three years was the drug patent period in Poland.
As it appears that the data exclusivity period for viagra has recently expired in Poland, Pfizer, the viagra maker argues that the patent period for Viagra is 10 years and as such the generic medicine Maxigra that possess viagra ingredient cannot be made available for sale in Poland until the expiry of the protection period. With this point in view, Pfizer has questioned the registration of Maxigra but the court has dismissed the case for formal reasons.
According to a revelation by Polpharma, it is known that Polish scientists at Instytut Farmaceutyczny in Warsaw have manufactured Maxigra by using a method different to the one used in Viagra preparation.
