On account of the drastic increase of fake Viagra in the pharmaceutical market, Pfizer Incl., the Viagra maker has gained the approval of the FDA to use RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology to check Viagra authenticity and now is on its way to utilize the procedure.
RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) starts with the application of a passive high frequency tag on each Viagra bottle. Firstly, the RFID interrogator encodes the electronic product code (EPC) and then the identification of the tag`s chip is done and is followed by the storing of chip ID and Electronic Product Code in a computerized system.
By using the RFID interrogator associated with Pfizer's RxAuthentication Service through an internet connection, the Viagra sellers would be able to easily confirm the authentication of each tag`s chip ID and EPC and can find out whether the Viagra pills available with them are fake or genuine can be easily identified.
