| Pfizer Lodges Appeal In Chinese Court Against The Use Of Chinese Viagra Name By Drug Company |

After Pfizer lost a case on November 2005 against the Chinese drug company Welman over the using of the name Wei Ge" or "Mighty Brother" which is actually the Chinese name of erectile dysfunction drug Viagra , the company filed an appeal in the higher court against Welman for using the Chinese name of Viagra.
According to a report issued by Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, by announcing the verdict against it, Beijing First Intermediate People's Court had worked against the Chinese attempts to create an environment conducive for the arrival of new medicines in China.
Pfizer Pharmaceuticals further reveals that as Viagra was made available in the United States in 1998 and the Chinese drug was invented in the same year, the Chinese medicine was associated with Viagra in reports distributed in the media.
