Viagra advertisements will be back on TV a long time after Pfizer has pulled out the old advertisements due to severe criticisms from different sections of the society for the obscure message of the ads.
Pfizer has come up with some glitzy and innovative advertisements for Viagra that are now being placed under the scanner of the Food and Drug Administration for approval. The company plans to launch these advertisements by the end of this year, if the ads come out unscathed after the FDA scrutiny.
Cialis and Levitra, the two popular ED drugs that rival Viagra, have also been drawing sharp criticisms from different organizations and the general public for their ads with ambiguous message. Pfizer had earlier run an ad for Viagra with a man standing in front of a huge V, which seemed to carry the message that he was growing horns, with the punchline, "Get Back to Mischief." The advertisement was removed due to restrictions from the FDA and heavy protests from doctors, as there was high possibility of people getting the wrong message.
Pfizer stated in a press release that it would run the Viagra ads only in events that have predominantly adult viewers. The company would also go by the bylaws of FDA to give out all the relevant information of the drug along with the advertisement.
