Date: 18th October 2007
As soon as the report of a man loosing his hearing power due to the consumption of Pfizer Viagra came out, the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) conducted a survey to evaluate the association between the three anti-impotency drugs (Viagra, Cialis and Levitra) and hearing loss which further identified 29 cases where hearing loss is found to be somehow related to these medicines. However FDA made it apparent that in one third of these 29 cases, hearing loss is not permanent but temporary and altogether the drug authority describes the remaining cases as ongoing at the time of its report revelation.
Reacting to the findings revealed by FDA, Pfizer Incl., the official manufacturer of the anti-impotency drug Viagra made it apparent that the data available with them relating to these drugs didn't establish any relationship between Viagra and hearing loss.
Dr. Ponni Subbiah, the vice president of Pfizer Incl. responsible for its medical affairs stated that according to the hearing loss data included in FDA` adverse events section, in clinical experiments hearing loss was found in less than 2 percent patients which is comparable to patients included in the placebo group.
