With the physicians practicing in US stating that they are unwilling to dish out Viagra prescriptions to the erectile dysfunction patients and also not eager to perform certain other duties such as artificial insemination and the use of fetal tissues on account of religious reasons, a conflict is now likely to ensue between religious independence and discrimination laws in the country.
The services that are refused to be performed by the doctors have been listed by USA Today.
As the physicians refused to provide Viagra prescriptions to the patients, it recently became known that a gay man in Washington worked out an out of court settlement with the doctor who was unwilling to prescribe him Viagra.
However, Patrick Gillen, a legal counselor of the Michigan-based public interest law firm briefed the media that physicians should not indulge in some kind of task or activity that leads to the violation of their religious faith. He also adds that if the patients can opt for the treatments at other places, the doctors are entitled to stick to their own choices.
