Cautioning the men who administer Viagra for recreational purposes, studies conducted at Queen's University Belfast, UK by Dr. David R. J. Glenn and several other physicians have led to the conclusion that the erectile dysfunction drug Viagra may adversely affect sperm function and on occasions can decrease male fertility.
As the experiments came to an end, Dr. David R. J. Glenn and his colleagues observed that sperm exposure to Viagra at concentrations equivalent to the average maximum total blood concentration present 30 minutes after a single oral dose of 100 milligrams can induce “acrosome reaction." and as a consequence male sperm may be incapable of fertilizing an egg. However, in the journal “Fertility and Sterility” the researchers who have taken part in the Viagra experiments clarify that the acceleration of the acrosome reaction on account of Viagra may have severe implications for the reason that the sperm that acrosome-react before contact with the oocyte are incapable of fertilization.
In relation to the clinical results shown by the erectile dysfunction drug Viagra in affecting sperm and reducing male fertility, Dr. David R. J. Glenn and the other researchers pronounce that the large-scale recreational usage of Viagra by the young men of reproductive age has become a serious concern.
